Q: Where are you from and what did you do before opening your business?

A: I was born and raised in Savannah, Ga. My passion for dirt busting started with private house cleaning in 1989 and grew from there. Guaranteed Clean Carpet Systems was started in 1995, followed by Norma's Fine Oriental Rug Cleaning in 2006. We re-branded as Clean ‘N Fresh Cleaning Service in 2009, to reflect our expanding residential and commercial cleaning services.

Q: Why did you open your business in this community?

A: I work and reside in the Southeast Valley and firmly believe in giving back to my local community, who've been extremely supportive as my business has grown. I make it a priority to give back by providing carpet, tile and grout cleaning to Valley locations of Maggie's Place, and by facilitating fundraisers for the Mesa Crisis Center and United Food Bank. I am president-elect of the Kyrene Corridor Rotary Group and volunteer with the Junior League of Phoenix. I support other local businesses and serve on the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber Board of Directors and was recently nominated for their 2010 Palo Verde Award.

Q: How did you get the idea to open your business?

A: I have to confess - I'm passionate about dirt. All the years of private house cleaning, commercial office cleaning, carpet cleaning, even parking lot sweeping and pressure washing, gave me a new appreciation for what clean really is. Research also startled me: The increase of asthma in our children, the poisoning of our children from ingesting cleaning products and the amount of harmful products tucked away such as cleaning products, beauty supplies, laundry agents, deodorants, shampoos ... the list goes on and on. It gave me a burning desire to start using safe and healthy products in our environment.

Q: What type of merchandise/services do you sell?

A: We specialize in creating healthy indoor environments for commercial and residential clients, through carpet, rug and upholstery cleaning, tile and grout cleaning, and janitorial services. We use and sell cleaning products that are both safe and effective, ensuring your indoor environment not only looks clean, but is healthy. The cornerstone of our business is trust and integrity - we take pride in delivering the best service, right the first time, every time.

Q: What does your business have in store for the future?

A: We are on the forefront of new products and procedures to help clients achieve their goals for cleaner environments, educating clients on safer, healthy alternatives.

Q: Anything else you want the community to know about you or your business?

A: Since 2009 I have served as ambassador chair on the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) Phoenix Chapter and was nominated for the 2011 National Bank of Arizona Women's Financial Group Woman of the Year Award. I serve my industry as the Arizona director for the Carpet & FabriCare Institute. My firm is an Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certified Firm. At Clean ‘n Fresh Cleaning, we are always looking for dirt so we take great care by screening all our employees. This includes thorough background checks and drug testing, so we know who we have working for us.
