Q: Where are you from and what did you do before opening your business?

A: I am originally from North Dakota, where I owned and operated a retail jewelry business that I sold before moving to Phoenix in 1997. I started an office for Edward Jones on Warner Road in Tempe and then moved to AG Edwards & Sons in 2006 as the branch manager of the office on Warner Road in Tempe, as well as to continue my practice there. The subsequent purchase of AG Edwards by Wachovia Securities was then followed by the financial crises of 2008, which brought Wachovia Securities business to Wells Fargo Advisors.

Q: How did you get the idea to open your business?

A: I felt with all of the change that the best thing for my clients and business was to join the independent business channel within Wells Fargo Advisors, known as the Financial Network (FINET). In doing so, I have taken an ownership position with my business while still having the affiliation of Wells Fargo Securities. This means that I still use Wells Fargo's research and trading platforms. Wells Fargo Advisors still process trades and separately holds the securities owned by my clients. I think this is especially important given the world we live in. My clients can rest assured that there is a secondary custodian in this environment. I think it is the best of all worlds for my clients and for my business as well.

Q: What type of merchandise/services do you sell?

A: I have been working with individual investors and business owners since 1998. As an accredited asset management specialist, as well as a chartered retirement planning counselor, I use my extensive personal and professional experience in all areas of investment planning to help you design a plan geared towards reaching financial goals. I am a registered and fully licensed financial advisor and can provide a variety of financial products and services through Wells Fargo Advisors Financial Network.

Q: What does your business have in store for the future?

A: Bruce Peterson Investments has a specific interest in helping clients with retirement planning, helping in the asset accumulation phase and in developing income for use as a supplement to Social Security and pension plans. I follow a strict discipline of investing through diversification based on client needs and tolerances of risk. I also assist clients in estate planning strategies.

Q: Anything else you want the community to know about you or your business?

A: I am a past president and current member of the Tempe South Rotary Club, as well as a past assistant district governor of Rotary International District 5510. My work with Rotary has included chairing the Hunger Plus Program and currently serving as co-chair for the Rotary International - District 5510 Ambassadorial Scholarship Program. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my wife, Tammy, and two boys, Michael and Jordan, along with playing golf and riding motorcycles.
