Red, White and Boom, a Fireworks Celebration this Friday
Comments 0 | Recommend 0After a valiant fundraising effort with contributions pouring in from all areas of the community, the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce is set to present Red, White and Boom, a Fireworks Celebration, this Friday, July 3.

• 6 p.m. gates open • 6:30 p.m. B Platinum performs • 7 p.m. preferred parking for at Country Club closes, parking at The Lakes all night • 8:30 p.m. flag posting ceremony American Legion Post 64 • 9 p.m. Fireworks |
There is no charge for admission, and people are welcome to bring bottled water inside the gates. The Ahwatukee Foothills Country Club will provide hamburgers, hotdogs, beer and non-alcoholic beverages for purchase.
Various bands will also be on hand to entertain the crowd, including Blooster the Might, Mighty Hot Wings and B Platinum, voted Arizona's hottest cover band.
The Phoenix Police Department will close 48th Street between Ahwatukee Drive and Warner Road on the night of the event from 7 to 10 p.m. Restricted access will be available only for residents.
Those who wish to park close to the Ahwatukee Foothills Country Club should arrive early. Parking will be available at The Lakes Golf Course and a free shuttle will be provided to the fireworks from Mountain Pointe High School. The Bashas' strip mall and McDonald's strip mall parking lots will also be open for parking.
At a press conference last Thursday, the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce announced that it is already looking forward to next year's fireworks. Phoenix Councilmember Sal DiCiccio announced that he has raised another $2,000 for the fireworks, part of which will go to next year's fund.
