Burton Barr Central Library will host an exhibition of work by T.M. Noël, titled “Everyone Could Use a Hero,” through March 22 at the library’s @Central Gallery, 1221 N. Central Ave.
Rendering the images of Martin Luther King, Jr., Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Malcolm X, Tupac Shakur and others in charcoal, graphite and oil paint, Noëlexplores “heroes” in the mainstream, urban environments and historical struggles.
His paintings strive to invoke a feeling that the subject is studying the viewer as the viewer studies the work.
Brooklyn-born artist Noël studied graphic arts at Collins College in Tempe. He has worked as a freelance artist and resident graphic artist. Currently, he works as a consultant for Designing Solutions in Scottsdale.
