A medical marijuana dispensary in Ahwatukee Foothills was on the agenda for a city zoning adjustment hearing Thursday but the meeting was postponed.

The hearing was postponed to 1:30 p.m. on May 23 in Assembly Room C at Phoenix City Hall, 200 W. Washington St.

The owner of the dispensary, Nature’s Healing Center, will be asking the city to allow the dispensary to be built at 4902 E. Warner Road, Suite 10.

The dispensary requires a zoning variance because it is within 5,280 feet of another dispensary and within 825 feet of Child Time Day Care.

State law requires Nature’s Healing Center to open its dispensary in Ahwatukee Foothills in a space zoned for C-2.

After searching all available spaces in the area the owners are convinced this is the only spot that has the correct zoning to allow them to open.

Nature’s Healing Center recently withdrew its application to go into a storefront at 4909 E. Chandler Blvd. after neighbors expressed their concerns. That same group of neighbors is still apprehensive about a dispensary being located anywhere in Ahwatukee Foothills, but City Councilman Sal DiCiccio said there may not be anything to stop it from coming because of the state law that voters already approved.
