Genghis Grill will bring its self-serve Mongolian grill concept to Chandler and two other locations across the Valley next month.

The Mongolian stir fry restaurant has had a location at Tempe Marketplace for about four years and is now expanding to other areas of the Valley.

Chris Hove, general manager of the new Chandler location, said the area is where he grew up and he's excited to be a part of it.

"I went to Corona and my wife went to Mountain Pointe and Desert Vista," Hove said. "It's a great community. There's definitely a good backbone to it between Ahwatukee, Chandler and south Tempe. That specific area is a great location. There's definitely a great energy in that area."

Hove says anyone can appreciate what Genghis Grill is all about. With 13 different meats and 31 vegetables the restaurant has something for everyone.

"In our concept you can build the bowl with 3 pounds of beef and two pieces of broccoli, where in other restaurants you might get the opposite," he said. "I think it's an exciting concept to pick and choose how to build your bowl and what's perfect for you. That's really part of the romance and why it's so successful. You have a huge opportunity to make anything you want and make it as healthy as you want, or not as healthy."

Hove says his restaurant offers the freshest meat, desserts and a full bar. The new location will be very similar in style to the Tempe location but much bigger, he added.

Genghis Grill plans on conducting a soft opening the second or third week in August. For now, the location is still working on hiring. Those interested can stop in at 900 N. 54th St. for an application.
