(AP) — Phoenix police say they believe one man is responsible for at least 13 armed robberies in the Phoenix area in the past two months.

Police describe the man as Hispanic, between 19 and 35 years old, about 5-foot-5 and weighing 140 to 180 pounds. They say he wears a hoodie, a baseball cap and sunglasses and is armed with a handgun.

They’ve dubbed the robber the “calligraphy bandit” because he presents a handwritten note demanding a type of painkiller.

Police say the suspect may have used two possible vehicles. One is a dark gray Dodge Stratus passenger car. The other is a 1980s single-cab pickup truck.

The robberies started Nov. 12 and continued through Jan. 15 and police say the robber has become more aggressive recently.
