Senator and Ahwatukee Foothills resident John McComish was recently endorsed by the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce’s Political Action Committee among 35 other candidates for the state legislature.

With additional endorsements from the Arizona and Chandler chambers, McComish, of District 18, said he’s pleased with the support.

The former president of the Ahwatukee Chamber of Commerce said he still has “an affinity toward the chambers.”

The action committee, part of the state’s largest and oldest chambers, chose its 36 endorsement recipients for the primary election in August.

“This is always a challenging and rigorous process,” said Todd Sanders, president of the Greater Phoenix Chamber of Commerce.

Other candidates from District 18 who were endorsed by the GPCC are Jeff Dial and Bob Robson, both running for House seats.

“(McComish) has a firm understanding in business, and a big supporter of what the chamber supports,” Sanders said.

“He’s been a real champion for us in health care,” Sanders said.

McComish said that every endorsement matters, and that he has a great respect for the chamber.

“They have a good reputation in the community, it makes a difference,” said McComish, of having their support.
