The free city of Phoenix/Coast2Coast Prescription Drug Discount Card Program has saved card users more than $2.5 million. People using the card are benefiting with an average savings of 62 percent off the retail price of prescription drugs.

Since November 2010, the program has saved people $2.53 million off retail, while also generating nearly $60,000 for city of Phoenix programs and services. No tax dollars or city funds are used for this program.

Anyone can pick up a card at any city of Phoenix Public Library, print a free card at coast2coastrx.com/phoenix, text the words "card" or "tarjeta" to 57682 and receive an electronic card via text message, or call 1-800-931-8872 for the Coast2CoastRx member services phone line.

The cards are accepted at almost all pharmacies nationwide. They are most helpful for people who do not have prescription drug insurance coverage, have high deductibles, or are in the Medicare "donut hole."

The program even provides discounts on pet medications, and dental, vision and hearing. Average savings is nearly 62 percent off retail.

Arizona State University's Downtown Phoenix and West campuses, University of Arizona College of Medicine - Phoenix, Maricopa Community Colleges, and TGen have joined other partners - the Phoenix Union High School District, the Paradise Valley Unified School District, and the Washington Elementary School District.

The prescription drug discount card program is a business partnership through the city of Phoenix Marketing Partnership Program.

Program goals are to develop mutually beneficial business partnerships and generate revenue for city of Phoenix programs and services.
