The Phoenix City Council awarded a domestic violence services contract to the Arizona Coalition Against Domestic Violence (AZCADV), effective March 1, 2013 through June 30, 2014.

The contract, administered by the city’s Human Services Department, provides $200,000 in Community Development Block Grant Funds and General Funds to bring service providers and organizations together to combat domestic violence in our region.

The contractor was selected by a competitive city Request for Proposal process.

The funding will be used to create two pilot programs: A centralized screening program to better match available programs and services to the specific needs of domestic violence victims and their families.

A mobile domestic violence housing specialist will offer assistance to those transitioning from temporary shelters to more permanent housing.

AZCADV is partnering with UMOM New Day Center and A New Leaf’s Domestic Violence STOP programs to administer this effort. The seven participating community organizations include: Sojourner Center; Salvation Army’s Elim House; Chrysalis; Catholic Charities’ My Sister’s Place; CPLC’s DeColores Shelter; Eve’s Place; and Community Alliance Against Family Abuse (CAAFA).
