Desert Vista Marching Band

The Desert Vista Thunder Marching Band is nearing the end of a strong marching season.

Their 2015 field show is titled “To The Future” and features three movements of soundtrack music from Disneyland's "Space Mountain,” the movie "Signs" and, of course, the movie “Back to the Future.”

Over the past eight weeks, DV has placed in the top three bands in each of six different competitions  throughout Arizona. On Saturday, Oct. 25, DV took sixth place in the Bands of America Southwest Regional competition in Long Beach, Calif., which was the highest finish of any Arizona band.

“I am extremely proud of what this year’s band has accomplished so far," said DV band director Josh Thye. "Nearly a third of the students are freshman or first-time marchers, and this is a very complex show. Marching band does not have a junior varsity team or a bench of reserve players – every student on the field must know both the music and the physical movements to perform a tightly coordinated drill.”

The Thunder Band will give a special Parents and Community Performance on Thursday, Nov. 12, at the Desert Vista football stadium starting at 8:00pm and is free to the public. The season ends this Saturday, Nov. 14, when the band competes in the AZ State Marching Band Championship at Glendale Community College stadium. DV performs at 8 p.m. and the cost is $10 per person (children under the age of 5 are free). Please come out and cheer for your Desert Vista Thunder Band and all the other great Arizona marching bands. Good Luck DV and congratulations on a terrific marching season.
