Two men robbed the Arizona Federal Credit Union, 15625 S. 48th St., at gun-point Friday, escaping with an undetermined amount of cash.
Witnesses and police say the suspects, two young black males who wore wigs as disguises, fled the bank at Chandler Boulevard and 48th Street and jumped the fence into the Andante Apartment complex, 15801 S. 48th St.
Officers and a K-9 searched the apartment complex without success.
The robbery occurred around 9:15 a.m. Quickly the nearby Horizon Community Learning Center, and St. John Bosco Interparish School were locked down as a precaution.
According to Sgt. Frank Matsco, no one was injured in the robbery.
Almost exactly four months ago the federal credit union was robbed by a single black male who also allegedly jumped the fence into the apartment complex and made his escape.
Ahwatukee Foothills experienced a wave of bank robberies last year with 10, including one where a shot was fired.
So far this year only two robberies have taken place, both at the federal credit union at 48th Street and Chandler Boulevard.
