A woman alerted an Ahwatukee man that his garage was on fire early Thursday morning, according to Phoenix Fire Department officials.

The woman was walking by the man’s home near 41st Street and Ranch Circle Drive when Phoenix Fire said she saw smoke coming out of the garage and knocked on the door, said Jonathan Jacobs, a Phoenix Fire Department spokesman.

Firefighters were called to the scene just after 2:30 a.m. and were able to get to the fire before more damage was made, Jacobs said. The fire spread through the man’s garage and to the attic, with “significant damage.”

The cause of the fire was still unknown and fire officials were still investigating.

No one was injured in the fire.
