Photo Slideshow: Obama visits East Valley school to discuss mortgage crisis
President Barack Obama delivers his speech on home foreclosures in America at Dobson High School in Mesa on Wednesday.

President Barack Obama will be in the Valley on Tuesday to give a speech on housing and the middle class.

The president will be at Desert Vista High School in Ahwatukee as part of a tour highlighting his plans for the nation’s economic recovery.

Many Valley residents say they can see signs of an improving economy but say the job market isn’t where it used to be.

“If you look at the stock markets, they’re obviously going up,” said Dahlen Schnedier. “Unemployment is going down but it’s still not what it used to be and people just aren’t used to that.”

Obama won’t be in Phoenix for very long. He will fly out early Tuesday afternoon and head to Los Angeles for another interview.

Obama’s speech is not a public event.
