“Keeping Kids Safe,” an Internet and mobile technology safety workshop, is the topic of the free Faces of Diversity Brown Bag series at noon Friday, Aug. 17 at the Phoenix City Council Chambers, 200 W. Jefferson St.

Speaker Anne Doulos will explain how parental engagement is essential in keeping children safe and will equip parents with information and tools to help keep kids safe from bullies and bad guys online. After some of her grandchildren had personal experiences with bullying and inappropriate adult contact, Doulos became an advocate for Internet and mobile technology child safety.

Doulos has been a local business owner for 17 years in the telecom industry. Previously she had been involved with technology since the early 1970s working in an administrative or technical support capacity for companies such as AT&T, Lucent Technologies, Avaya and FedEx.

The free event is co-sponsored by the Phoenix Human Relations Commission and the city’s Equal Opportunity Department. The Faces of Diversity series features dynamic people telling their stories about diversity. Bring your lunch and enjoy a cultural experience.

No reservation is needed. For more information, call (602) 495-0358 or (602) 534-1557/TTY, or visit phoenix.gov/eod/whatsnew.
