If you want to continue to make a difference where you live, consider taking part in the Blight Buster Volunteer Program through the Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department (NSD).

A program orientation will be offered at 6 p.m. Tuesday at the NSD West Facility, 3325 W. Flower St., for residents 18 years and older, wanting to volunteer.

Participants will learn how to clean up alley ways, remove illegal signs and graffiti, use GPS cameras to report blight, and work with other volunteers to help keep their neighborhoods clean and safe, and maintain property values.

The Oct. 4 session is the first of four free classes. After completing the training, each volunteer will be issued a city volunteer ID, a uniform, technical equipment and other resources necessary for volunteer assignments.

For more information, visit myvolunteerphoenix.org/opportunities/1367, call (602) 495-0323, or email blight.buster.volunteer.nsd@phoenix.gov.
