Some city services to be affected by Christmas holiday

City of Phoenix offices will be closed on Monday, Dec. 26 and Jan. 2 in observance of the Christmas and New Year's.

Light rail, buses and Dial-a-Ride will operate on a Sunday schedule on Dec. 25; Monday, Dec. 26; Sunday, Jan. 1; and Monday, Jan. 2. The light rail will run regular service on Christmas Eve with no late-night service.

Light rail will also run a regular schedule with enhanced capacity on New Year's Eve, Dec. 31. Express and RAPID buses will not operate.

Parking in metered spots will be free beginning at noon on Saturday, Dec. 24, and continuing Dec. 25 and 26. They will also be free on Jan. 2 and 3.

There will be no garbage collection on Monday, Dec. 26 or Monday, Jan. 2. Monday and Tuesday trash collection routes will each be pushed back a day. The transfer stations will be closed on Monday, Dec. 25 and Jan. 2.

All Phoenix Public Libraries will be closed at noon on Saturday, Dec. 24. Branches that are usually open Sundays will be closed on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1.

The offices of the Ahwatukee Foothills News will also be closed on Monday, Dec. 26 and Monday, Jan. 2.
