Pecos crash

A woman who was driving a Kia Soul was sent to the hospital after she hit a city employee, who was also sent to a hospital, while he was filling pot holes.

A city employee was injured in a vehicle accident Monday afternoon while filling potholes.

According to the Phoenix Fire Department, a city employee was critically injured when the driver of a Kia Soul hit him. The accident happened around noon near the 1700 block of Pecos Road.

The employee was with a street transportation work truck, but was outside of the truck filling pot holes when he was struck.

Officials do not know the extent of the man’s injuries, but he was sent to a trauma center for treatment. The female driver of the Kia was also transported because of her injuries.

According to fire officials, there were two children, both under the age of five, who were in the Kia Soul at the time of the crash. They were restrained and transported to a hospital as well.

The Phoenix Police Department is investigating the accident.
