Interstate 10 drivers in Phoenix heading toward Tempe, Chandler or even Tucson should prepare for a detour route late Friday night through Saturday afternoon, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Eastbound I-10 will be closed between US 60 (Superstition Freeway) and Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) for work to install new sign structures above the freeway. ADOT recommends drivers plan ahead, allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while the following weekend freeway restrictions are in place:
Eastbound Interstate 10 (toward Tucson) closed between US 60 (Superstition Freeway) and Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) from 10 p.m. Friday to 3 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 1) for overhead sign structure installation. Westbound US 60 ramp to eastbound I-10 closed. Eastbound I-10 ramps between Baseline Road and Chandler Boulevard closed. DETOUR: Drivers can use eastbound US 60 to southbound Loop 101 and westbound Loop 202 to reconnect with eastbound I-10.
Westbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) closed between 51st Avenue and Bell Road from 10 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 2) for HOV lane work, including lane striping. Westbound on-ramps at 27th and 35th avenues closed. DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes, including Bell Road.
Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) narrowed to two lanes in both directions between Bell and Bethany Home roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 2) for HOV lane work, including rubberized asphalt paving. DETOUR: Please use caution in work zone.
Southbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) narrowed to one lane between Indian School and Thomas roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 10 a.m. Saturday (Oct. 1) for HOV lane project, including new light pole installation. DETOUR: Please use caution in work zone and consider an alternate route.
Eastbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) narrowed to one lane overnight between 51st and 35th avenues from 11:30 p.m. Saturday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Oct. 2) for sign work. Expect intermittent ramp closures in the area. DETOUR: Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to merge safely in work zone.
