This whole situation is so sad, and there are really no winners. Some community is going to be destroyed, and for what? This Highway will not relieve any pressure off the the other roads. It never does! Every new Highway they build just fills up with never ending congestion. People are almost encouraged to travel farther, as opposed to using stores and other conveniences nearer to home. Not to mention looping a beautiful mountain park with pollution, noise and filth...When oh when will we ever learn.[sad]

It puzzles me that the GRIC gave residents an option to vote for something that cannot be decided by their vote. The decision before them was: a) allow the loop 202 on GRIC land, or b) forbid it on their land.... and if they chose b), there is risk that the 202 will be constructed along Pecos, and through part of the West end of South Mountain and possibly some sites of historical/religious importance to the GRIC (unfortunately, "no freeway at all" is not a decision the GRIC can make - that decision now belongs to the State and potentially the court system).
