Closures for freeway improvement projects in the Phoenix area will be limited this weekend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. A stretch of southbound Loop 202 near US 60 in east Mesa will be closed for resurfacing work. Drivers are asked to plan ahead and use alternate routes while the following restrictions are in place:

• Southbound Loop 202 closed between University Drive and Elliot Road in east Mesa from 9 p.m. Friday to 4 a.m. Monday (Oct. 28) for pavement resurfacing. Both US 60 ramps to southbound Loop 202 closed. DETOUR: Please consider alternate routes, including southbound Ellsworth Road, to travel beyond the freeway closure.

• Eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) on-ramp at Hawes Road closed from 5 a.m. Saturday to 6 p.m. Sunday (Oct. 27) for work on the future State Route 24 (Gateway Freeway) interchange. DETOUR: Please consider entering the east/northbound Loop 202 at either Power or Elliot roads.
