A Phoenix man entered a not guilty plea on a charge of first-degree murder Thursday in connection with the death of his wife. Anthony Rinaldi's next scheduled court date is Feb. 10.

Phoenix police arrested Rinaldi Dec. 12 after his wife's body was recovered from inside their Ahwatukee home.

Fire officials responded to a call from a child that someone had been shot. When emergency responders arrived at the house, they discovered the body of 28-year-old Amanda Blaies-Rinaldi and two children inside the home. The children had not been harmed.

Shortly after the fire department was called, Rinaldi surrendered to a Department of Public Safety officer who was conducting a traffic investigation on westbound Interstate 10 near 16th Street. Rinaldi told the officer he had shot his wife and he was taken into custody.

Rinaldi was a corrections officer with the state.
