City services affected by Christmas holiday

The city of Phoenix offices will be closed beginning at noon on Monday, Dec. 24, for Christmas Eve and remain closed for Christmas Day, Tuesday, Dec. 25.

Phoenix city buses and Dial-a-Ride will operate on Sunday schedules on Dec. 24 and 25. Light rail will run on a Sunday schedule on Tuesday, Dec. 25. Express and RAPID buses will not operate. Parking in metered spots will be free beginning at noon Dec. 24 and all of Dec. 25.

All Phoenix Public Library locations will be closed at noon on Monday, Dec. 24 and will remain closed on Christmas Day.

Tuesday’s trash collection will move to Wednesday, Dec. 26. Wednesday’s collection will move to Thursday and Thursday’s collection will move to Friday, Dec. 28. Friday’s collection will move to Saturday.

Transfer stations will run on holiday hours (6 a.m. to 3 p.m.) on Christmas Eve. They will be closed on Christmas Day.

Since same-day collection was implemented residents have to remember changes in service on only three holidays: Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The city is reminding residents to have their containers on the curb by 5:30 a.m. to ensure timely collection. The containers should be 4 feet apart.
