The Chandler-Gilbert Community College Law Enforcement Training Academy is now accepting applications for a new class beginning on Jan. 7.
The CGCC Law Enforcement Training Academy is a fully-certified police academy covering more than 870 hours of training required by the Arizona Peace Officer's Standards and Training (Az POST).
Located on the college's Williams Campus in Mesa, students attend the academy on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and all day Saturday for 10 months.
Upon successful completion of the academy and the Az POST Board's Comprehensive Exam, students are eligible to be certified law enforcement officers once appointed by an Arizona law enforcement agency.
In addition, students earn 30 college credits from CGCC.
Students can be sponsored by a law enforcement agency or enroll as open enrollees (non-sponsored).
The lengthy application process includes an Az POST background check, polygraph (lie detector), and medical exam prior to being admitted to the academy.
Students are encouraged begin the application process as soon as possible in order to enroll in the January 2012 class.
