AF Brownie troop sends Girl Scout cookies to military in Iraq

Brian Johnson/AFN Members of local Girl Scouts Brownie Toop 1145 were literally besides themselves when they received a visit from National Guard medic Shawn Malkind Sept. 29. Malkind, 27, was one of 25 soldiers in Iraq who received 1,200 Girl Scout cookies from the girls and wanted to repay the girls' kindness with a trip to one of the member's Foothills home. The medic, who has been deployed to Iraq three times, answered questions and presented the girls with certificates of the soldiers' appreciation. Sept. 29, 2010
