The FBI was investigating a scene in Ahwatukee Foothills Saturday morning after an attempted bank robbery over night, police said.

“A woman employee was held against her will overnight and brought to the bank with what turned out to be a fake explosive device,” said Sgt. Tommy Thompson of the Phoenix Police Department.

The woman was held at her home overnight, then transported to the Bank of America at 48th Street and Ray Road.

Police responded and found the woman unharmed a little before 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The device was removed by the bomb squad. The area was shut down Saturday morning but was reopened by noon.

The robber is still outstanding.

Phoenix police and the FBI were investigating the scene. The man did not get away with any money, Thompson said.
