DV Pops Concert

The Desert Vista High School Choir will be hosting its inaugural Gala, Dinner and Auction to raise money for new equipment.

Proceeds from the event will go directly to the Desert Vista Choir program to purchase items such as music, performance attire, wireless microphones, technology for the classroom, and musical performances.

Dinner will be provided by Buca Di Beppo in Chandler including appetizers, entrée, dessert and non-alcoholic beverages.

Live entertainment will be provided by Desert Vista Choir, where students will conduct different performances.

A silent auction will happen during the first hour and will become a live auction throughout the event.

Items to be auctioned off range from baskets filled with an assortment of Greek and Italian products and vacationing packages.

Choir member Caleb Foreman said they have been hosting various fundraisers throughout the years and have always been trying to put together a larger event.

His mother, Janice, had put on different dinner fundraisers in the past, and pitched the idea on bringing it to the choir program.

“It just seemed to make sense to have one big event to take care of the money… we don’t have to continually have different fundraisers,” Janice said. “I think that takes a big burden off the parents having to ask neighbors and co-workers and the kids having to go door-to-door. Now, they can just focus on their performances and enjoying it.”

Caleb said hopefully the event could be a running tradition for years to come, providing the program with its essential needs.

“It’s going to be fun not only for the choir, but for everyone involved,” he said.

Janice said the money would also go toward registration fees the students paid while attending different competitions.

“If we can raise the funds, the kids won’t have to continually be asking their parents, and some people can’t always provide for that,” Janice said.

The inaugural Choir Gala, Dinner and Auction will take place on Saturday, March 22 at Mountain View Lutheran Church, 11002 S. 48th St.

Tickets must be purchased by Tuesday, March 18.
