A local Boy Scout troop is hosting a fundraiser to help offset a trip they are planning to Philmont Scout Ranch in northern New Mexico in July. The donations collected will help to pay for the camp and the backpacking gear required for the trip. The will have opportunities to participate in horseback riding, gold panning, rifle shooting, burro packing, archeology, rock climbing, mountain biking, fly fishing etc.
The troop will pick up trees on Monday, Jan. 3, in the Ahwatukee Foothills area only. Suggested donations are $10 - $20. All decorations, lights and tinsel must be removed, as well as tree stands, metal stakes and nails. The trees can be left at the curb with an envelope stapled to the trunk with checks payable to Boy Scout Troop 278.
