A Desert Vista High School alum has been confirmed to be one of the victims in the mass shooting in Aurora, Colo., last week, according to officials in that state.

Alexander Teves, 24, was one of 12 victims who died from gunshot wounds during the shooting rampage at the midnight premiere of “The Dark Night Rises.”

According to the Arapahoe County Coroner’s Office, Teves died on the scene at the time of the shooting.

Teves graduated from Desert Vista in 2006 and had just graduated from the University of Denver in June with a master’s degree in counseling psychology.

“The university extends its deepest condolences to his family and friends, including the many current students and faculty who knew and worked with Alex,” the university said in a statement.

On Friday, reported friends of Teves’ sent out their condolences on Twitter.

A woman named Caitlin tweeted “Alex Teves was one of the best men I ever knew. The world isn’t as good a place without him.”
