An adult woman was found dead in a backyard pool on Tuesday morning after what officials say was likely an accidental drowning.

The drowning occurred around 6 a.m. at a home near Chandler Boulevard and 32nd Street in the Lakewood area of Ahwatukee Foothills. Sgt. Trent Crump of the Phoenix Police Department said it appears alcohol was a factor.

The woman was declared dead on the scene, said Capt. Tony Mure of the Phoenix Fire Department.

No other information was immediately available.
