U.S. Senator

Richard Carmona — Democrat

As of press time the Carmona campaign had not answered our submitted questions for this story. Stay tuned to ahwatukee.com for any information they do submit.

Jeff Flake — Republican

Why are you running for office?

The federal government is too big, and it spends, taxes, and regulates too much. I am running for Senate to advance the principles of limited government, economic freedom, and individual responsibility. Read more>>

Marc Victor — Libertarian

Why are you running for office?

I have been a life-long advocate of freedom. I see our government creating more laws that infringe on personal freedom. For example, FISA and The Patriot Act, which permit the government to spy on Americans, or NDAA which permits indefinite detention and suspends habeas corpus. I hope my running for office will help win hearts and minds such that people once again cherish and value freedom. I will continue to strongly advocate for freedom. Read more>>

U.S. Representative in Congress — District 9

Vernon Parker — Republican

Why are you running for office?

I’m a product of the American Dream. I grew up in a neighborhood replete with drugs, gangs and violence. I was raised by my grandmother who couldn’t read or write. But she taught me through hard work and education, I could accomplish anything. And today, I’m running for the U.S. Congress.

I’m running because tough decisions need to be made in order to ensure a better future for our children. I’m not afraid to make those tough decisions. As mayor of Paradise Valley, I managed to work with folks on both sides of the aisle to cut the budget by 30 percent.

I’m running because we can get our economy back on track. We can get Americans back to work. We can provide a better future for our children. And I will not rest until we do. Read more>>

Kyrsten Sinema — Democrat

Why are you running for office?

I am running because our Congress no longer represents ordinary families. Right now, families are struggling all across our country and Congress would rather fight over rigid partisan positions than help the people they represent. The fighting has gotten so bad that our nation’s Legislature has stalemated on the very basic tasks that they were elected to complete — like producing the budget. This leaves our families in a lurch while our economy remains sluggish. This shows that Congress has forgotten how to listen. If we’re going to change Congress, then we have to start by changing the people that we send there. Read more>>
