Artwork to be displayed in Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport for travelers to see marks the 50th anniversary of the opening of the Phoenix Zoo, one of the largest nonprofit zoos in the country. What began as a vision of one man, Robert E. Maytag, with help from the local community, has grown into a thriving organization that has been internationally recognized in the field of conservation, has provided experiences for guests to view native and exotic species of animals and has contributed to countless memories and photo opportunities.

To honor this long standing cultural attraction, the Phoenix Zoo will be showcased in Terminal 4 of Phoenix Sky Harbor Airport starting in August. The zoo is looking for children to send their own masterpieces, wishing the zoo a happy 50th anniversary to be displayed for hundreds of thousands of travelers to see. Fifty entries will be on display in the terminal through the end of this year.

The contest is open to children ages 3 to 17 and the deadline is June 1. For more information, contact the Phoenix Zoo at (602) 273-1341.
