The Maricopa County Attorney's Office is partnering with the Shred-It company and Westech Recyclers to sponsor a community Shred-A-Thon as part of its ongoing commitment to combat identity theft. At the Shred-A-Thon the public will be able to shred two full file boxes and/or bags of their personal and financial information at no cost. In addition Westech Recyclers will be on site collecting recyclable electronics. The public may bring items like computers, cell phones, keyboards and cameras to be recycled for free.

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office is committed to protecting the community from identity theft, which remains one of the fastest growing crimes. The office will continue to vigorously prosecute cases of identity theft and work with the community to prevent these crimes from happening in the first place. One of the most effective ways to do that is to ensure that your personal identifying and other sensitive information is destroyed and with our partners, Shred-It and Westech, we can help you make that happen - and the best part is, it's free!

The Maricopa County Attorney's Office employee volunteers will be onsite assisting citizens in unloading shred boxes. The Office takes a proactive, problem-solving approach, like hosting Shred-A-Thons, to address community issues and to help prevent crime.
