Three people were transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries this afternoon following an accident near 48th Street and Elliot Road in Ahwatukee.

Sgt. Huskisson of the Phoenix Police Department said that one driver turned left out of the Ahwatukee Plaza entrance near The Original Burrito Co. in front of another driver. The car that was hit ended up spinning onto the median.

Two people were inside the car that ended up on the median. They were both transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Huskisson said. The driver that made the turn was also transported to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Huskisson said alcohol did not appear to be a factor in causing the accident.

Eastbound Elliot Road was closed down around 12:15 p.m., but will open again as soon as glass is cleared from the road and the cars are towed away.
