Work to upgrade guardrail along Valley freeways continues this weekend on Interstate 10 and Interstate 17. In addition, a project at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport will close the I-10 ramp into the airport’s west entrance late Sunday through early Monday.

The Arizona Department of Transportation recommends drivers plan extra travel time and consider alternate routes while these restrictions are in place:

• Westbound I-10 ramp to northbound I-17 closed from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 2) for guardrail installation. DETOUR: Drivers can use 27th Avenue to McDowell Road to access northbound I-17.

• Northbound I-17 narrowed to three lanes between Thunderbird and Greenway roads from 10 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 2) for guardrail installation. Northbound I-17 on-ramp at Union Hills Drive also closed. DETOUR: Drivers can use on-ramp at Bell Road.

• Westbound I-10 on-ramp at Cotton Lane closed overnight from 9 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (April 2) for construction of the I-10/Loop 303 interchange in Goodyear. Southbound Cotton Lane narrowed to one lane between McDowell Road and I-10. DETOUR: Drivers can access westbound I-10 at Jackrabbit Trail.

Note: These restrictions continue nightly through Friday (April 6).

• Eastbound I-10 ramp to eastbound Sky Harbor Boulevard closed overnight from 10 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday (April 2) for sign installation at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport. DETOUR: For airport access, use Jefferson Street to southbound 24th Street and enter west end of airport via Buckeye Road.
