City Councilman Sal DiCiccio’s office is going through some changes. The councilman has recently named Chris Shipley as his new chief of staff.

Shipley has been on DiCiccio’s staff for over a year and has been credited with working behind the scenes on DiCiccio’s attack on pension spiking.

“Sal’s made tremendous progress on moving this issue forward and my job will be to maintain our current momentum,” Shipley said.

Shipley’s day-to-day duties will include making sure the councilman is organized and prepared for all that he does.

“A lot of what we do is very nuanced and my focus is to make sure no detail is overlooked,” Shipley said. “I’m also responsible for developing strong working relationships with our constituents, communications from the office, and the office’s general operations.”

So far working in the office Shipley said he has learned how unique each of the communities in District 6 are. There are some issues that transcend the city but he said each community in District 6 has different concerns residents seem to prioritize.

Before working in DiCiccio’s office Shipley had experience working for an industrial manufacturer and in public administration for the Town of Prescott Valley. He also worked for a short time at the Maricopa County Recorder’s Office.

Shipley is replacing Robert Pizorno, who recently left the DiCiccio’s office to work in the County Assessor’s Office as communications director.
