The fifth annual Tukee Fest Rockin’ in the Park will take over Ahwatukee Park on Saturday with music and games for the whole family.

Admission to the concert will be $5 for adults and free for kids 12 and under. Bands Chuck E. Baby, Consider the Source and Jagged will perform.

In the past the event was two nights but this year, to cut down on the cost to put on the celebration, it has been moved to one night, from 6 to 10 p.m. on Sept. 29.

I9 sports will use the outfield of the baseball field for sports and games for kids. There will be a football tossing game, kickball and an obstacle course.

“When we did do all the inflatables and carnival rides, kids were having more fun just running around,” said Susan Hyden, community center director. “It was a big expense to have all the bouncies and different carnival rides. We figured the kids will have fun doing anything. I think they all just like to run around and have a good time.”

Guests are invited to bring their own blankets and lawn chairs and enjoy a night under the stars.

“It’s kind of like a concert in your backyard for a very nominal fee,” Hyden said.

There will be beer, wine and margaritas for sale as well as food from Toms BBQ, Macayo’s, Nello’s Pizza, Jamba Juice and What’s Poppin Kettle Corn.

Ahwatukee Park is located at 48th Street and Warner at 4700 E. Warner Road. For more information, call (480) 893-3431.
