U.S. Army Master Fitness Trainer SSGT Ken Weichert (a.k.a. "Sgt. Ken"), creator of the nation's longest-running boot camp fitness program, START Fitness, will use his military experience and motivational skills to lead workshops during the EMPOWER! Fitness Celebration, Oct. 21 to Oct. 23, at Life Time Fitness in Scottsdale.

From 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 21, Weichert will host his Boot Camp Instructor Certification session. This course is based on his Operation Fit to Fight program, created for the U.S. Armed Forces to increase the combat readiness of our soldiers and prevent stress or injury in the field through exceptional fitness instructor training.

Attendees will be provided with all the tools needed to successfully create and market a civilian boot camp, including relevant safety and nutrition information. The certification is nearly identical to that which Weichert provides to the Tactical Fitness Leaders of the Armed Forces - the individuals responsible for the physical training of our soldiers.

On Oct. 22, Weichert will teach two 75-minute sessions of a boot camp, dubbed Operation Rapid Response, and the Operation Deep Impact obstacle course. He has served 10 years of active duty in the Army and 12 years in the National Guard, including tours in Operations Iraqi Freedom and Desert Storm. Weichert has led thousands of soldiers, civilians and fitness instructors in variations of his Operation Fit to Fight program since becoming a Master Fitness and Resilience Trainer. A portion of his fitness training is offered for free at nationalguard.com.
