Tumbleweed Center for Youth Development has received a $25,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation to continue meeting its mission serving youth who may be homeless or at-risk of homelessness, abuse or neglect.

Estimates indicate that 1,780 youth under 18 are homeless in Arizona every day.

“The funds from this grant are critical to our efforts to provide a safe place for struggling and at-risk young adults to rebuild their lives,” said Chris Tompkins, interim executive director/CEO. “Partnerships like this with Bank of America allow us to reach more and more young people who have nowhere else to turn.”

Founded in 1972 by Soroptimist International of Phoenix to provide emergency shelter and services for runaway and homeless youth, Tumbleweed now offers more than a dozen direct service programs providing a continuum of care for more than 3,000 homeless, conduct disordered, abused, abandoned, neglected and at-risk youth every year.
