The city of Phoenix, Arizona Commerce Authority, Maricopa Workforce Connections and Maricopa Community Colleges recently met with more than 35 health care businesses to launch a Health Care Sector Partnership.

As part of the City Council-approved Phoenix Workforce Readiness Initiative, this sector partnership is the first of many sector partnerships within key industries designed to engage business and industry leaders, and collaborate with education and training partners.

Sector partnerships are born out of workforce issues, but also focus on infrastructure, suppliers, markets, innovation and technology. In addition to hospitals, the partnerships also include medical manufacturing, research and development, information technology, laboratories, pharmaceuticals, insurance, and home health care.

Following the launch, the city’s Community and Economic Development Department will continue to support this employer-driven effort that identified top priorities in the health care sector.
