Good news for Southeast Valley carpoolers and transit providers: The Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) HOV-lane project is scheduled for completion in October.
If all goes as planned, drivers will be using the new westbound HOV lanes between I-10 and Gilbert Road - and the new ramps connecting them with HOV lanes on Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and Interstate 10 - by the end of this month.
The eastbound HOV lanes between Gilbert Road and I-10, and connecting ramps to Loop 101 and I-10, are scheduled to open in mid-October.
Between now and then, watch for continued closures or restrictions on the Loop 202 and at the interchange with Loop 101 (Price Freeway) where crews are finishing bridge construction.
Eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) will be closed between Loop 101 (Price Freeway) and Dobson Road from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. tonight (Sept. 7) and Thursday (Sept. 8) for bridge painting.
Use northbound Loop 101 to Ray Road and turn around to re-access Loop 202. Eastbound Pecos Road will be closed at Interstate 10 from 9 p.m. Thursday (Sept. 8) to 5 a.m. Friday (Sept. 9) for sign installation. Use Chandler Boulevard to Kyrene Road.
This weekend, eastbound Pecos Road/Loop 202 will be closed between 40th Street in Ahwatukee to Alma School Road in Chandler. The closure is scheduled for 10 p.m. Friday (Sept. 9) through 5 a.m. Monday (Sept. 12); however, eastbound lanes are scheduled to re-open at Dobson Road early Saturday. Use Chandler Boulevard as an alternate.
