Part of Loop 303 will be closed in the West Valley this weekend (Aug. 16-19) as work continues to convert the highway into a six-lane freeway, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. Drivers are asked to plan ahead, allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes while the following restrictions are in place this weekend:
• Loop 303 closed in both directions between Indian School Road and Northern Avenue from 9 p.m. Friday to 9 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 18) for bridge, drainage system and sign work. Detour: Consider using Cotton Lane or Sarival Avenue as alternate north-south routes in the area.
• Eastbound Interstate 10 narrowed to one lane near Loop 303 in Goodyear from 9 p.m. Saturday to 10 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 18) while crews switch traffic at the Loop 303 interchange work zone. Eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Sarival Avenue and eastbound off-ramp at Estrella Parkway closed. DETOUR: I-10 drivers please use caution, slow down and merge safely in work zone. Local drivers can instead use the eastbound I-10 on-ramp at Estrella Parkway and eastbound off-ramp at Bullard Avenue.
• Eastbound Loop 202 (Santan Freeway) off-ramp at Hawes Road in southeast Mesa closed from 5 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 18) for lighting work. DETOUR: Drivers can use the eastbound Loop 202 off-ramp at Power Road.
