Curves sponsors 'Taste of Ahwatukee' March 27
Comments 0 | Recommend 0Each year, Curves Ahwatukee participates in a company
nationwide food drive during the month of March but this year, the 30-minute
workout center for women is spicing things up a bit.
On March 27, Curves Ahwatukee will host its first "Taste of
Ahwatukee" event, showcasing local restaurants to help feed the hungry.
"If they donate one brown bag of non-perishable items, they
get two tickets to the event," said Curves Ahwatukee co-owner Dawn Rutledge.
"All food donations benefit St. Mary's Food Bank."
Participating restaurants include Café Zentro, Casey Moore's
Oyster House, Dolce Luna, Edible Arrangements and Emerald City Smoothie. Door
prizes and wine sampling will also be available at the event, provided by local
businesses.
Pam Hahn, a local freelance musician, will play the harp to
set the atmosphere.
"The purpose of the event is to generate additional
involvement in the community and provide an opportunity for small businesses to
showcase what they do," Rutledge said.
Additionally, women are invited to join Curves Ahwatukee on
or before March 27 for a $30 service fee with donation.
Last year, the Curves food drive collected nearly 13 million
pounds of food for local communities all over the world. This year, the company
will strive for 15 million pounds of food. Donations will be accepted at all
Curves locations during regular business hours through the end of the month.
The "Taste of Ahwatukee" will be held from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.
at 15410 S. Mountain Parkway.
