As a new business owner Ahwatukee Foothills resident Gary Caceres was disappointed seeing so many businesses around him struggle.

“As I was meeting businesses that are part of the chamber I started to notice business owners were saying things were OK, but it’s really not OK,” Caceres said. “A lot of people are just hanging in there.”

Caceres recently became an independent distributor of a product called Organo Gold. It is gourmet coffee, hot chocolate and tea infused with a health promoting herb called Ganoderma. Caceres personally benefitted from the product and decided to start selling it to help others.

As part of starting up his own business he began visiting other businesses and learned how to network. Networking with other businesses and hearing of their struggles led him to another idea.

Caceres teamed up with a business partner, William Darden and his wife, Keturah. Together the three are helping Ahwatukee Foothills businesses get some extra marketing in by banning together to distribute promotional items to the area.

They ask that Ahwatukee businesses have 100 copies of their promotional item, whether it be a flier, coupon, or a business card. These items are placed in a bag with other local businesses and distributed directly to the doors of homes in the area.

Caceres said they may charge for their service if the businesses they work with would like them to distribute items more than once or to a more specific area.

For now it’s just been a great way for them to network with other businesses and ban together to market to the community.

“I’ve been going out to meet businesses and have seen so many close,” Caceres said. “We don’t want that to happen. We want to support our community and make it easier for residents to realize a lot of these businesses exist here. We want to stay in business, too.”
