After months of construction the Ahwatukee Foothills location of Sprouts Farmers Market will host its grand opening Wednesday, Aug. 22.

“The locals have been begging for a store in Ahwatukee — it has now become a reality,” said Kim Rockley, spokesperson for Sprouts.

The store will open for the first time at 7 a.m. on Wednesday. Rockley said customers can expect a colorful and lively store with mountains of fresh produce, all-natural meats and scoop-your-own bulk foods.

There will be free goodie bags for the first 100 customers on Wednesday and free sandwich booklets for the first 500 customers. There will also be free reusable grocery bags while supplies last and many items for $1.

“Sprouts operates nearly 150 stores across eight Southwestern and Western states, making it one of the largest specialty grocers in the country,” Rockley said. “It’s all because of the simple formula we have followed since our founding family opened its first produce stand back in 1943.”

The 28,000-square-foot store at 4711 E. Ray Road, in the old Room Store location, is the first Arizona store to open in the past five years.

The store is also the first store in Arizona to have an updated décor package with an olive bar and some new merchandise. The company hired 85 team members for the new location.
