Main Event, a 60,000-square-foot dining, bowling and arcade facility next to IKEA in Tempe is slated to open in mid-November.

It will house several different dining options including a full-service bar, 26 lanes of bowling, billiards, a two-tier laser tag arena, more than 150 arcade games and a suspended ropes course, called “Gravity.”

This is the company’s first location in Arizona, but 13th location overall. They are on track to double in size as a company in two years.

“The Tempe location matches a lot of the markets we’re in here in Texas,” said Amy Johnson of Texas-based Main Event Entertainment. “There are a lot of families in the area. Our owner was actually very familiar with the area as well. The location we’re in right next to IKEA is a great new development for us to be in and it really coincided with our target demographic, which is really made up of families with kids.”

Johnson said the company gets a majority of its business from birthday parties and corporate team building events, but the site welcomes any guests throughout the week and on the weekends.

“Our facility is really a social experience for groups, kids, churches, team building,” she said. “You can pretty much use our facility to be a one-stop shop for a night out.”

Main Event is open until midnight throughout the week and 2 a.m. Friday through Monday.

The company plans to hire more than 150 employees in Tempe. They also have locations opening soon in San Antonio, Houston, Austin, Pharr, Atlanta and Oklahoma City.
