For a company that's been in business for only three months, Blue Dream seems to be living up to its expectations as a winner.

After his graduation from Arizona State University this past spring, Eli Chmouni established Blue Dream-a public relations and marketing company-with a grant from the Edson Student Entrepreneurship Initiative through ASU. His business concept, Chmouni, says, is to offer companies marketing and PR with "everything under one roof."

Blue Dream contracts with clients for all of their needs, and then works with other businesses on behalf of its clients to create websites, business cards, mobile applications, commercials, photography, you name it. And it's found a way to do it, no matter the contract budget.

"Even if a client comes to us with a low budget, we figure out a way to make it happen. Even if that means volunteering our time for some things," Chmouni says.

Blue Dream's initial business plan estimated its first year revenue around $35,000. But it has already hit and surpassed that mark.

"We're growing really fast," Chmouni says of the company's progress. "Some of our single contracts are at $18,000 a piece."

The new PR firm, which is based at the ASU SkySong innovation center at the intersection of Scottsdale and McDowell roads, has also surpassed its projected contract count for the year.

Blue Dream estimated about six contracts for its initial year in business. To date, it has signed on 11 clients.

According to Chmouni, of all the 2011 Edson winners, Blue Dream is one of the only companies growing in revenue. Brent Sebold, Program Manager for the Edson Student Entrepreneur Initiative, says winner revenue is hard to compare and rate, though, because each company is in different stages.

Of the 26 winners this year, fewer than 10 are in the "generating revenue" stage, so it's difficult to compute who's doing best financially.

"Blue Dream has done a great job at pushing their purpose to current and future customers," Sebold says. "But I can't say for sure if they're the ones growing most in revenue."

Chmouni and his team, Nichlos Oliver and Greton Goers, have had success with video and photography marketing. The team has won awards for the videos they produced for Avnet Inc., Johnson Controls Inc. and ISACA Phoenix Chapter.

Another successful outlet for the company is Edson's new "Get Launched" initiative. The project highlights Edson's student-run ventures and provides tips and insight for other entrepreneurs through videos. Blue Dream is the main producer of these "Get Launched" videos.

"They're constantly contracting for new clients and promoting Edson Company winners, too," Sebold said. "I've been wanting to promote our companies with videos for a long time, and now they're [Blue Dream] doing it."

Blue Dream's running start may have even been foreshadowed by the origin of its name. Chmouni says he chose "Blue" because after some research, he found blue is a noble and popular color for already established companies, like Facebook, Wal-Mart and Twitter.

"One more thing," Chmouni wrote in an email, "Dreams come true. We try to always remind ourselves of that."

The ASU SkySong facility is designed to help companies grow by providing business services and programs offered or facilitated by ASU. These services include access to new technologies, capital networks, business education and a skilled workforce.
