Last minute shoppers may be surprised to find the deals on large TVs they may have missed on Black Friday are still available just across the freeway in Tempe.

Best Deal in Town is a small shop hidden behind My Big Fat Greek Express on College and Baseline at 235 E. Baseline Road. The shop carries a wide variety of TVs that are sold about 30 percent lower than most retail stores.

The owners, Nick Silbaugh and Ryan Hegna, have been doing this for about 10 years. They purchase TVs from retailers that have been returned for any number of reasons but are still brand new and working well, and they resale them still at a discount to their buyers.

“Say you buy something on Amazon, no one understands where this stuff that gets returned goes,” Silbaugh said. “That’s one of the biggest losses for retailers. Companies like Amazon don’t have retail stores. You may go to Best Buy and they have their opened box stuff for sale but Amazon gets a lot of stuff back... They have to do something with all those returns.”

What they do with all those returns is sale them at deeply discounted prices to Best Deal in Town. Silbaugh said there’s a million reasons why TVs get returned. Sometimes it’s because the shipment gets messed up or the address was wrong. The box may be beat up but the TV is still working well. So well, in fact, that Best Deal in Town is confident enough to offer a 90-day warranty on all their TVs and extended warranties for an added cost.

“We warranty everything because we have a pretty good idea of how long things will last,” he said. “If you have a problem with a TV in the first 90 days, you bring it back and we’ll give you a new TV. We don’t try to fix it and make you wait. We’ll give you something else.”

Silbaugh said they began buying and reselling electronics in high school. At the time they sold audio equipment. They got better at finding deals in college and began to learn what sold well and what didn’t. TVs sell quickly.

Now they’ve been doing it so long they’ve been able to get rid of some of the middle men and provide even better deals for their customers.

Best Deal in Town also provides the TVs for a store called Wired Up in Fountain Hills. Customers can also find their deals online at bestdealaz.com or facebook.com/TVSuperStore or by calling (480) 229-1595.

The owners have plans to open a new store in Denver in May.
