Striving to provide a more personal approach to business networking, the Ahwatukee chapter of S.E.V.E.N. networking group is linking local businesses together.
Chapter president Mariette Holland said though other networking groups in Ahwatukee are available, the beauty of S.E.V.E.N. is that they “support each other even in the same line of business.”
“This is so intimate and very supportive,” Holland said.
Meeting weekly for the past year and a half, the group, which stands for Supporting and Empowering the Vision of Entrepreneurial Networking, has grown to about 15 members. Founded in 2009, the group has grown to 18 chapters in Arizona along with others in Minnesota, West Virginia and North Carolina.
Representing owners and entrepreneurs in fields ranging from real estate, health and wellness, insurance, coaching, and more, Holland said the group is keen on building relationships first.
“The nice thing is that we are not just there to sell a product, we’re there to start relationships and trust,” she said. “It’s exciting.”
Tempe chiropractor Dr. Harlan Sparer has been a member of Ahwatukee’s S.E.V.E.N. chapter for the past year and a half. Though he’s owned his home practice for the past 33 years, Sparer said he’s seen more growth in clientele since joining the group.
“I get a few patients a week from it, it really works” Sparer said. “(With the group,) you find out where you can share connections and there’s room for everyone there in the same line of business to breathe. That works harmoniously.”
The Ahwatukee group meets weekly every Friday at 9 a.m. at Barro’s Pizza in Ahwatukee, 4625 E. Ray Road. Membership is all-inclusive and costs about $20 a month. Those interested in joining must visit two of the group’s weekly meetings.
