Global Bikes is committed to being active in the community so when the owners had a chance to purchase a new location in Ahwatukee — a very active biking community — they jumped at the chance.

Global Bikes has four locations across the Valley. Ahwatukee is the newest. Previously the location at 3636 E. Ray Road housed South Mountain Bike Shop but Global Bikes took over in February.

“We knew it was a successful business here in Ahwatukee,” said Brandee Lepak, development director and owner. “When the opportunity came up and we found out this place was for sale we jumped on it. It’s such a great community for riding. There are great hills, great places to train and an excellent cycling community.”

Lepak said Global Bikes is unique because of its focus on building the sport. The shop hosts several free classes and rides each month. Every third Thursday of the month at 7 p.m. they host a free basic repair class. Other rides and events can be found on the shop’s site,

Besides free classes and rides, Lepak said she lobbies nationally for bike-related issues. Lepak also serves on the board of directors for the Mountain Bike Association of Arizona. Global Bikes recently joined the Ahwatukee Foothills Chamber of Commerce.

“It’s been part of our business philosophy to offer support and education to help cyclists feel more empowered and knowledgeable,” Lepak said. “It helps them be successful and that’s what we focus on here at global bikes.”

Global Bikes has classes and rides for beginners to more experienced riders. For more information, visit or call (480) 706-0858.
